Sunday Morning Worship 10:50am
Wednesday Prayer and Communion 12:15pm
Visiting a church for the first time can be stressful, even if you have attended church your entire life. Here are some things we want you to know about visiting The First Presbyterian Church:
Worship: Worship at The First Presbyterian Church will engage your heart and mind. There is some sitting and standing, prayers and litanies that we speak together, even drama and the arts. The musical style of our worship is both traditional and modern, with familiar hymns and new compositions. When you arrive you will receive a bulletin that is a roadmap through the worship service. When visting any congregation, attend for a month to get a good idea of what the church is all about...no two Sundays are ever alike!
Christian Education and Formation: The First Presbyterian Church offers many opportunties for you to grow in your faith! You do not have to be a member to participate, and we encourage you to attend as you are comfortable.
What to wear: You'll see a lot of different clothing styles at FPC! Clothing is not something that should prevent anyone from coming into God's presence. Wear what makes you comfortable!
Communion: Everyone is welcome at the communion table, and we mean that. The communion table belongs to Jesus Christ, not to us, so we welcome you to partake in the sacrament.
Baptism: Baptism is a very important event in a person's life, whether they are young or old. The sacrament of baptism is available to infants and children whose parents are members of FPC, and to adults whether they are a member or not. Study, prayer, and preparation are all important in preparing for baptism.
Community and Meals: You do not have to be a member of this congregation to enjoy community and meals with us, even if you didn't bring anything to share. There is always enough!
Giving: In worship each week a collection is taken to support the ministry and mission of the congregation. We call this time in worship the 'offertory' because it is a chance for everyone to offer something to God: time, talent, treasure, or their very life. Giving is more than money, so give as the Spirit leads you.
